Gorgeous - absolutely gorgeous. I could stare at this for hours – and that's not a reflection of my state of mind, but rather all the interesting pathways and details in this photograph.

Been a few years since I've seen an icicle, but I used to be fascinated with their photographic possibilities.  Thanks for sharing it!

This is the kind of images that should be seen as printed at all costs, expecially because it's a B&W.
Anyway... great image :)
The only detail that bothers me is the third "ice column" from the left: it's the only one which is slightly cut on the bottom.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Terry - I tend to like images with a lot of space to explore.  I do however have difficulty finding the line between lots of things to explore and chaos.  I understand the 'less is more' crowd but after a point that tends to produce what I call 'pop images' - great at first glance but that is the end of the interest.

Wolf - Yes the East Coast still has ice.

Mac - Thanks for pointing that out.  there is in fact a bit more room in the image that got cropped for no good reason.

These small icicle caves along stream beds make wonderful scenes.  Black and white really works well.  Nicely done.

Scott, I remember you mentioned in some earlier posts that you are color deficient for some colors, so I hope you will take the following comment as helpful: there seems to be a slight, warm (sepia) color cast in the left upper side and cold (bluish) in the right lower side, roughly divided by a diagonal?

Thanks much for pointing this out.  Out of curiosity I went back through all of the post (not very extensive) and tried to determine where the difference  came from.  I haven't been able to identify the source as of yet.  The one thing I would throw out is that I didn't do a B&W conversion or desaturate so the color (not necessarily the tint) is natural.  Still working on it.

side note - my name is Chuck, I think you grabbed Scott off of my line thanking Scott for his comment.  No matter.

That possibility did occur to me as well, but then other posters mentioned how it works well, "especially because it's a B&W", thus my comment.

P.S. Sorry about the name mixup, my bad, I should have read it more carefully.
