In the new LR video 08i_Library_Pt1, Mr. Reichmann and Mr. Schewe discuss keyboard shortcuts for navigating the Library module of LR 4. They appear to be puzzled as to why "E" was chosen for the shortcut :go to the loupe:. Of course, "L" is already assigned to :lights out:. One of guidelines for assigning shortcut keys is, if the first letter can't be used, consider the last letter. Thus "E" from "loupE". The mnemonic to help the user to remember it is "E" is a "loopy" shortcut for loupe.

Well, there's only 26 letters in the alphabet. Note, you can also just hit the spacebar.
-
Perhaps the E came from Enlarge.javascript:void(0);

How about E for examine?

I say to myself "Examine" also.

I usually hit spacebar when in the library, but use E when in the develop module.

I think the use of "E" refers back to the early days of keyboard shortcuts when a tradition began: if a letter were already taken, the last letter in the word was used. Note that the "K" in CMYK stands for blacK.

Ah, that explains why the Quick Selection Tool in Photoshop is 'w' :D

Is there, by the way, a handy list of keyboard shortcuts somewhere?

Photoshop has one: Edit>Keyboard Shortcuts (Alt+Shift+Ctrl+K).

In LR when you hit ctl+/ or on a mac command +/ a list of keyword shortcuts will pop up. That list will be specific for the module you are currently in.

This shortcut results in a useful list of keyboard shortcuts being display, but the list is not complete -- not even for the specific module. Does anybody know of a web page that gives a complete list for all modules?
