Title: LR4 Soft Proofing - Before and After View
Post by: pflower on March 09, 2012, 11:03:43 am
Is this how it is supposed to work?

If I take an image from my catalog which I have adjusted within LR and press on the Soft Proof box, I get what I expect - a soft proof based upon the profile I have selected.

However if I then change to the Before and After view the Before View is defaulted to the "saved state" - i.e. what is on the hard disk and doesn't reflect the adjustments I have made within LR.  There is a drop down menu next to the "Before" item but it only has "saved state" selectable within it.  Absolutely useless as a before and after view.

I have been having some other problems with LR4 (Mac OSX 10.6.8) so maybe this is something to do with my system.

Any thoughts anyone?

Reveal the History panel (F7) , then drag any step out and drop it in the Before side. This is what you normally do with Before /After but it sounds like you may have overlooked it.

Alternatively, drop out of Softproofing mode (S) and in the toolbar click the Copy After's Settings to Before. Then back into Softproofing.

It isn’t at all intuitive, I’ll agree 100% to that!

OR...........
In the softproof panel just below the histogram click on the bar that says "Create Proof Copy", or (command+'). Then invoke compare view.
It also works if you are already in compare view.
