Title: Help with IQ180/645DF
Post by: markymarkrb on March 08, 2012, 11:36:22 pm
I just received my IQ180/645DF and I have a few problems.  Second, while checking the focus mask and turning it down to setting 20, i usually get this picture, which makes me think that the 4 sections on the sensor aren't working properly.  I know you wouldnt want it all in focus but the top left section seems far off from the others.  Am I reading this correctly?  It seems like I am having a tough time getting any sharp pictures but I know that the 645DF is a tough one.  Something seems just a little off with my setup right now and I don't have the experience to know what that could be.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

Are the firmware in your back and camera current? An offset in firmware might explain what you are seeing...

The firmware in the back is current.  I don't think you can upgrade the camera firmware without a V-Grip air?  Am I wrong on this?

Thanks,
Mark

Correct but most dealers have this and can do it for you...your camera needs to be current for the back/camera to work properly together (I know cause I went through this for issues regarding tethering).

Your focus mask number of 20 is way to low, its pretty much reading everything is in focus which is not the case. I would bump it up to around 40-50 with the 80 LS which will pinpoint more accurately what is in focus. You need to play around with this setting to see what number works best for you but 20 is way too low to start. This will also vary with some lenses like on my tech cam my new SK 28 i have to get it to around 70 to really pinpoint what is in focus. This is something you have to test for and see what each lens, aperture combination and distance works best.
