I have an Imacon Flextight Precision II (SCSI) for sale. This scanner is in excellent condition. It has a brand new power supply. I have all the original literature, accessories.645, 120, 35, 6x9,4x5,6x7 film holders, original box and packing material. I also have a Mac G4 that I was using as a dedicated computer for scanning that I will throw in with it if you are interested. I have no idea what the shipping would be.
$2750.00

Still for sale!

This is a better value than the Nikon Coolscan 9000, someone grab it.

It would help to know where you are … ;D

Someone was selling a "well-used" Coolscan 9000 for $4000 (twice the original price) the other day. That makes this a super deal, IMO (I've owned a 9000 in the past).

Looks like a great scanner, but I have read in several different places online that running one of these with a Mac is a real pain
How is it you are running yours with a Powerbook?
Any special adaptor required?
I am running OS-X 10.5.8 on my desktop and 10.6.8 on my laptop
Thanks,
Bob

The problem is SCSI more than anything else; Apple moved on from SCSI years ago (hoping FireWire would be the new high-ish end protocol) and OSX sees it as an afterthought. There are SCSI>USB and [discontinued] SCSI>FW400 adapters from Ratoc available online. Found this (http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?79238-Imacon-Flexcolor-4-on-osx-LION) via Google.

i have looked for an adaptor online and all I come up with is "Out of Stock/ Discontinued" or you google up a power adaptor from the same manufacturer

Just looked for Ratoc on eBay and found only PCI cards. Might be worth considering the acquisition of an older G4 tower just to run the scanner; 10.3 or 10.4 runs well enough on these with a bit of RAM. There was one advertised here (South Australia) for $50 recently. HTH

I am running this scanner - which is great - on a G5 mac running the system for G4. I use it all the time. Hope it holds up -

Please keep in mind that I am selling this scanner with a G4 that is dedicated to the scanner, so you can be up and running immediately. The whole system works great, just don't use it anymore.
-
Neil,
What do you mean when you say G5 running a G4 system?
Thanks,
Bob

I have been running a SCSI Precision III on my Intel Mac Pro running 10.6.8 through firewire + power adapter.
You need the exact right level of firmware for the firewire adapter (sorry, can't remember) as well as the exact right level of Hassy driver (Flexcolor 4.0.4) to make this work... but it does work.
This won't work under Lion anymore since Rosetta is gone though.
Cheers,
Bernard

I mean that we installed system software for a G4 on a G5 and it runs just fine with this scanner and my older version of Imageprint.

I think someone got a great deal -- scanner + computer to drive it! [I'm a former owner of a Nikon 9000.]

I'd like to make you an offer.
