Title: The Painted Hills in Oregon

I had the pleasure of visiting the Painted Hill twice last summer, once in June and then again in July. What is interesting is on the July trip I noticed that there is now streaks down the side of the hills, starting at the top and flowing down the hills. Talking to Ranger Scott, it had rained VERY hard the day before causing the streaks. It will be interesting to see how long they last (?).

Great landscapes caught in superb lighting. #1, 2 and 3 are fabulous. I love how in #1 the dark ominous hills behind give the foreground hills a real presence not felt in #2 and 3. Any chance of there being just a bit more sky at the top of #1 (looks tightly cropped). As well, the foreground shallow slope leading to he hills could be darkened to balance the dark hills above.

Perhaps because it is put in the same lot as the 3 dramatic photographs preceding it, but #4 seems underwhelming, although not without potential. The curvaceous nature of the hills behind the trees seems to be lost due to their relative brightness and lack of "shaping" contrast.

That's the way I see things. Great stuff!

You got there at the right time, nice storm lighting!

As I tell people, to get the great photo op, you've got to be out there and then get lucky!

Interesting, #4 is my best seller :-). It looks very striking in a 30x40 canvas.

Scrolling down my screen, I like #4 much more with the sky cropped out.

Except for the over the top saturation, I think you have done a very nice job on these.  I have to chuckle a bit about your comment on how striking the last one looks on 30x40.  It is a bit funny that as group of folks with an appreciation for photography, we spend so much time viewing what amounts to 5x7 snaps at 30-40 cm viewing distance. A 30x40 at 1-2 meter viewing distance must certainly have a different subjective perspective (as opposed to geometric perspective) than the 5x7.  I would think that the impact of the various elements of the image  would be quite different in the two different cases.

Great shots, the contrast and colors look really good, have trouble finding my favorite.

Great shots.  You definitely hit it right.  A little recent moisture makes the hills come alive. I definitely need to get back over there before summer hits.
