Title: Anyone using BETA shells for lenses?
Post by: dreed on January 12, 2012, 12:11:27 am
The product page is here:

... they claim to provide a housing that protects the lens from various mishaps (moisture, bumps, drops, etc.)

Does anyone here have any experience with them?

I've looked at them, they seem horrifically bulky to be worth the effort, unless your doing something REALLY extreme...

I have no experience with those cases but they look like "individual" Pelican cases. I agree with Brian, they are bulky but should provide an excellent degree of protection. If you plan to shoot in tough conditions, this might be the way to go but you must find the right balance between ease of use, protection, bulk, weight and costs.

hmmm looks like a fungus house to me.  Dark air tight container with foam to absorb and hold moisture.   If I used these, I'd make sure to put in a couple packs of desiccant.
