Title: Snowmobile access to Acadia
Post by: chrisn on January 03, 2012, 07:00:16 pm
Hi, all.

I'll be on Mt. Desert Island the week of Jan. 22 to do winter photo work in Acadia National Park. I'm looking for someone nearby with a snowmobile I can use to get around the loop road more easily if snow is on the ground. I'd want to use the snowmobile just for a day or two (I'll be snowshoeing the carriage roads on other days). Borrowing would be great, but I'm willing to pay rental if need be.

If you're interested, or if you have any other thoughts about how I can secure usage of a snowmobile in Acadia (no commercial venture within 90 minutes rents them), then I'd love to hear from you.

Thank you.

Chris:  You'd better pray for snow.  We just came back from Acadia.  No snow to be found anywhere.  Jordon Pond has yet to freeze over.  Temps have been unseasonably warm.  Rain is forecast for next week.  We live in Northern Mass. and haven't had any snowfall since the storm in October which was devastating.  Last February was a totally different story both here at home and Acadia.

Yeah, I hear ya. I've been monitoring the snowfall up there. Regardless, I have to go when I have to go. I'm just banking on the law of averages to kick in; they get 5 feet of snow per winter, so they're due. :-)
