Happy New Year to everyone!!
Fluctuating temps in these parts have resulted in a lot of freezing and remelting and some intriguing textures.

You have a beautiful image with interesting/mysterious shapes and a lot of texture. The B/W treatment is perfect for that kind of image!

Agreed. I like the toning you have applied, as well. It's suitable.

Some intriguing graphic elements for sure!

Uncanny, I just shot some similar images north of Toronto. Your find is both intriguing and well composed. I bet this image would really be something at dawn or dusk. The movement from dark to light works really well and you have have rendered it beautifully in BW.

Thanks everyone for the comments - graphic elements are indeed the key player here. I thought I would attach the color version as well. The sun was pretty low in the sky but slipping behind clouds so the light was a bit diffuse but still directional enough to cast shadows. The color version has a somewhat different feel - not sure which I like better.

I like them both, but as a B&W junkie I expected to prefer the black and white. Much to my surprise I think I prefer the color one right now (I may change my mind tomorrow).
They're both excellent, but, as you say, the color has a different feeling.

There is no contest for me, the nuances in the colour version really make the image come alive. What is more, this is almost a two toned image where the light, shapes and blue-black-white tones are almost equal in expression. Wonderful!

I have a slight preference for the color version!

+1. And I like the contrasting colours of the reflections because of the off-image information they convey.
