Title: Contax 645 <> 645DF?
Post by: lowep on November 18, 2011, 07:49:51 pm
Looks life both of these cameras have similar size and weight and accomodate various MFDBs, so would like to ask how much difference the generation gap makes in terms of handling and ease of use?

The DF is a much better camera if you want to use af. If you like mf I would say the Contax is just as good,
and feels a bit lighter. The handling is pretty much the same.

Main problem with generation gab is that Contax 645 is no longer made, or significantly supported. Yes DB's are still made that fit them but they camera is no longer made, you are stuck with the camera / lenses / accessories currently available. Yes they have Ziess designed lenses WITH AUTOFOCUS and a vertical grip, which would put it on par with the PhaseOne 645DF and Schnedier lenses, its older, less ideally designed for digital and again no longer made which I think is the biggest selling point.
