Title: CS4 - Rectangle Tool - Once I've selected the area, how do I work within it?
Post by: Dinarius on November 15, 2011, 04:36:00 am
I've selected an area of an image using the Rectangle Tool. A new layer is created automatically on top of the existing layers.

I now want to use the Quick Selection Tool to select an area within the rectangle, so as to edit it.

How do I do this? Firstly, the selection is opaque. If I reduce the opacity to zero, I still can't use the QS Tool. It just selects the entire image area.

So, how do I make the rectangle area 'active' for editing?

Thanks.

D.

if I'm understanding you, just go to the layers palette and select the newly created layer (which contains the rectangular cut).  I forget offhand if the selection is still active but once you start selecting w/ QT, it'll become the active selection.
