Dennis MacAlistair Ritchie (September 9, 1941 – October 12, 2011)
Pioneer, creator of the Unix, language C. Ritchie was in the first division of computer scientists who have had a great influence on the development of consumer electronics. Without his contribution today many things simply would be impossible.
R.I.P. DMR
#include <stdio.h>
int main()
{
printf("goodbye, dad\n");
return 0;
}
PS.
Within one week we lost the two greatest brains of the IT world.

Dennis was truly a giant and pioneer in what is now generally known as computer science. UNIX and C are the foundations of so much of what we use every day, from networks to handheld devices. I had the pleasure of meeting Dennis on a couple of occasions at Murray Hill during my Bell Labs career, and can say that he was one of those rare modest geniuses that left a huge technological footprint on our world and was an inspiration to many. Thanks Dennis.
