Title: Epson R3000 Softproofing
Post by: walter.sk on September 06, 2011, 12:54:25 pm
My wife just installed her new R3000 on a Mac running OS10.6.  In CS5 we went to View>Proof Colors Setup>Custom, and found the indicator for R3000 Epson Premium Luster, for the Device To Simulate box.  However, she has loaded Epson Ultra Premium Luster, and her instruction manual says she should select it in the printer driver as Ultra Premium Luster.  There is no choice for the Ultra Premium Luster in the driver, and none in the CS5 Custom Color Proofing dialog, either.

What am I missing about this?

Epson's Ultra Premium Luster is the new name for Premium Luster, so you should be good using the Premium Luster for media type.

Epson's Ultra Premium Luster is the new name for Premium Luster, so you should be good using the Premium Luster for media type.
But that may apply only till the end of 2011. I suspect that in 2012 Epson will rename the paper to "Fantastic Ultra Premium Luster", to be followed in 2013 by "Super Fantastic Ultra Premium Luster", and then in 2014 ...    ::)

And add "Plus Extreme Pro" for 2015!

It would be nice if the user manual for the printer did not say to use the Ultra Premier Luster selection for the paper, and indicated that the Ultra should be selected as the Premier.  Anyway, thanks for the info.
