I spend 2-3 months at a time away from home and do not want to lug my Epson 1280 and big IBM CRT.  I have just purchased a 17" Samsun monitor (returnable) and am considering an Epson R300 printer.  I am strictly amateur and need not print larger than 8x10 while I am away.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Bob

I travel a fair bit and I use a Epson R300 and a Fujitsu S6210 laptop. This works extremely well for me. The laptop has more than enough processing power and memory (Pentium M @ 1.7 Ghz with a Gig of Ram) combined with the R300. I mostly make 4 X 6 and the occasional 8 X 10. Excellent results and easy to profile. BTW, I have never been able to get a good print from the R300 using Epson Matte paper. I've tried several kinds of Matte that I use successfully on my Epson 1270 but I get nothing but crap on the R300. I now use several kinds of Epson glossy photo paper and the prints turn out great.
