Title: Epson 3800 maintenance cartridge question
Post by: PIsaacs on August 16, 2011, 01:00:47 pm
The Epson status monitor says my maintenance cartridge is 90% full but when I pulled it out to replace it there was a large circle of dark ink but still plenty of white showing outside of the circle, much more than 10% of the whole area. Should I change it anyway or wait until the printer refuses to print?

Wait till the monitor says it's full and needs to be changed.  Really no reason to change it early.

Ok, I figured that, thanks for confirming, just worried about something clogging up from it.

The central circle of absorbent material can be snipped out and replaced by a plastic jar lid (of proper size) filled with some tissue and then conveniently replaced on timely basis. In fact, the removed circle of abs. mtl. can be replaced by the same tissue and recycled. There is a chip resetter available that will inform the printer the waste cart is empty. Check the 'pharmacist's posts in the Inkjet Forum for more info.

What a few of my friends do is similar to Irv's post.  They buy maxipads and stuff them in their maintenance tanks and then use the chip resetter.
