Title: Aptus 75 IR Filter
Post by: Terence h on July 15, 2011, 06:22:13 am
Ok i might wish to replace this filter Aptus 75 IR Filter Product code 518-00401B - IR Filter For Hasselblad (wide pins) myself sometime.

I have not followed up after last years discussion on my scratched filter because i have not used my Aptus 75 in a year , yes 12 months
not requiring my DB shocking state of affairs.

Does anybody have a current price just for the Filter itself posted to South Africa i will do the replacement myself if i can afford it.

Thanks
Terence

Hasselblad charges only 310,00 euro for this, so i gues Leaf pricing will be similar. ;D

Thanks Yaya and Peter :-) i am hoping for a miracle here last year it was R5000 about 450 Euro so hoping for a lot
cheaper 310 Euro starts looking good.

I had to buy one of these last year for my Aptus 65 (518-00402A) - I think that you should brace yourself to paying more than 450 euro though. Mine was in the US via MAC group (always good for a mark up!!) and IIRC it was more like $800+. In fact in the US they weren't at all keen on selling it without MAC service fitting it! My dealer and I convinced them otherwise since it's just a 4 screw disassembly/reassembly exercise, although understandably something that you need to do carefully under clean conditions.

Wow Graham $800 that sounds like a dramatic mark up.
I meant to get mine last year at about 500 Euro but my
work for the camera dried up drastically so i have delayed the purchase ,
doing a shoot this morning which is a little on hold as the food stylist has
had a flood in her home.
I mostly do my food shots at between f5.6 or f8 so the scratch does not show up much
but when greater depth of field is required it becomes a problem.

I checked my invoice for the IR filter and it was actually $850 - and that was at cost to my dealer who worked with me to get my back up and running as cost effectively as possible. (and who I trust when he said that this was HIS price, not with margin added). However, I would hope that you'd easily get a substantial discount on this because you're not dealing with MAC group who traditionally add their own obscene mark up to Mamiya gear in the US. I've always found that to be the case with everything Mamiya bought in europe which was significantly less expensive. In addition to price gouging in the US they're also extremely aggressive about non-US based gear and servicing - no worse than other manufacturer's agents I guess though. You may surmise that I'm not a great MAC group fan ...  ::)

Graham the price i received locally in S.A was equivalent to about $724 still a huge price.
Hasseblad charges 310 Euro so they are not marking up as much.
I hate to be gouged as well and eventually always stop dealing with them.
