Title: Gitzo rubber problem?

Hello,

I have a Gitzo head and the rubber or material that is on the platform where the camera screws has ripped and detached from the metal part; I guess this was caused from rubbing from the camera.

What's the best way to put this back on? I tried some of that Gorrilla glue but it didnt work too well. Rubber cement maybe?

I never had this specific problem, so no authoritave answer, but I am a tinkerer and have solved a lot of camera issues with stuff found here

It's an old style web site, with a lot of stuff. You might find a solution there.

But which head do you have? I have a few of them, and they don't have any rubber parts - rubber is only present on the plate. Finding a replacement plate might be the most convenient and cheapest way to address the issue, all things considered.

Could the damage possibly be described as being a defect and returned to Gitzo for repair/replacement?  Might be a good idea to check with them.

Gorilla glue is for wood working not rubber to metal, any contact cement or general purpose "rubber,wood, metal, plastic" glue should work.
Devcon makes good adhesives, 3M 77 weatherstripping cement is a good choice, try your auto parts store.
