I have a Mayline (24"x36") flat file for storing prints. I add a sheet of Apollo tissue between each print.
My concern is this -- as I stack layer upon layer of prints in the drawers, additional weight is added to the bottom most layers. As I pull out a print from one of those layers, I'm concerned that the weight of the upper layers will scratch the surface of the print as I pull it out. I use Museo Silver Rag.
Is there a way to "lift" the upper most layers .... allowing me to easily pull out a print without scratching its surface? Or is there a better way to store photos in a drawer?

How about always pulling the sheet of tissue out with the print, thus always leaving image surfaces protecting by a stationary sheet? Maybe put a piece of cardboard in the bottom of each drawer, remove all of the prints at the same time on top of the cardboard, and carefully turn them over on a table until you get to the one you want. Or maybe if you find the one you want, lift the prints above it with a rigid piece of cardboard?
Good luck ...

Thanks Wayne ... all ideas worth trying. I had thought of "lifting" the prints with a rigid piece of cardboard. I may give that one a try.
