Title: Looking for Bill Atkinson iSis XL targets
Post by: Tarkowsky on May 17, 2011, 12:21:37 pm
Bill Atkinson's download page has been down for quite a while.
No way to get his iSis XL targets in other web sites and I really need them to make some profiles and take advantage of a new iSis XL.
Does anyone know where else I can download the targets?
If not is there someone kind enough to send the 22MB targets file to me?

What's so magic about Bill's targets? I've seen/used them and there's nothing special about them.

What profiling application are you using?

I am using PM5 and the new i1Profiler and as for BA targets I don't know if there is any magic involved.
I just know that I can build ICC profiles with the biggest gamut and deeper black than with any other targets including the new i1Profiler ones.

I don't think the page is "down". I think it now has access restrictions which didn't exist some years ago. This could mean that perhaps the material is proprietary and he now wants people to ask permission to obtain it.

But there is no link on the page to contact him to obtain access and it does say "free download."  Everything on the page is four years old.

Since you've got an iSisXL and i1Profiler, do yourself a favor and build a profiling chart using 2,976 patches....this will fit neatly on a single 13"x19" page with 6x6mm patches. If you want to go nuts, use 5,952 patches for a perfect fit on (2) 13x19" pages. If you're doing CMYK profiles, try setting the dark/light patch weighting to -25. Set profile Tables to "Optimize Quality".

If you don't get a Dmax/minL* equal to or better than Bill's charts, I'll eat my iSis. :)

Nah - waste of a good Isis. Send it to me instead - I've seen how that thing works and my tongue is hanging out...but not to eat it.:-)

Alan when I go to that page and try to get anything, a "Forbidden Access" notice pops up. I do believe that on his website, not that particular page, there is a way to contact him.

Bills page works fine for me:
http://homepage.mac.com/billatkinson/FileSharing2.html

But as Terry says, you’ll end up with a better target if you generate it in i1P.

Mark, you should have tucked it away somewhere while I wasn't looking. ;)

Great - this one works. Bill must have switched the point of access, not the permission to access.

Hi Andrew

I don't know if this is a platform issue or what it might be, but the URL you have listed hasn't worked for me for a very long time. The one I listed definitely works. I just tried the one directly from your post and it's dead, access denied. Perhaps it's a Mac thing, but I can't really believe that. Interesting though.

Thank's Gary.
The link you posted works perfectly .
Now  I can compare BA targets vs i1Profiler targets and see which is the winner if any.
