Title: 7D popup flash not working, any ideas

the pop up flash on my 7D doesnt reliably pop up, stopped working today for the first for 1-2hrs, then worked off and on. should i send to canon or  is there a simple repair/cleaning i can do? once up the flash itself works properly, exposes correctly or as dialed.

Is it still under warranty? The flash-up is driven by the motor that cocks the shutter. Could be the phase switch or a bad motor. Is it the same when triggering it manually as when in green rectangle mode? If different it could be a processing error.

In any case, it needs to go to a tech. Very easy to brick these things if you don't know what you're doing.
