I am gearing up for a bunch of 60x80" exhibition prints, (on Epson 11880) but am frustrated that many of my favorite papers are not available in 60" rolls: Harman (FBAI) Baryta Gloss - No; Canson Baryta - No; Canson Platine - No. The only thing I see is Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta.
There is some good choices in Matte Papers, but... that is not whats called for here, it needs to be a PK Photo-type paper, hopefully a quality Baryta, if not then a top level alpha-cellulose 'Photo Paper'.
Any suggestions?

Whats wrong with the Hahnemuhle PhotoRag Baryta?
Its a gorgeous paper - fully the equal of any of the other papers you have mentioned (and some would argue even superior in some areas). Its been very well reviewed here on Lula. Personally I have used it and found it a wonderful paper - its not quite as glossy as the others you mention, but its far from a matt paper.
-
It's the surface for me - too much stipple. I would accept the smoother 'Photo Rag Pearl' surface in that range, but that is not in 60".
I know thats personal, but thats how it is for all of us !
It is also a 'warm' Baryta. Competitors like Canson Baryta, have a notably 'whiter' (bluer) base, still with no/minimal OBA's.
Having said that my go-to Paper (up to 44") is Harman Gloss Baryta (FBAL), which has a great smooth surface, bright white point and deep gamut. Yes, it has OBA's, but gets fantastic longevity on Aardenberg... go figure.

Some Innova Fiber papers do have 60" wide
-
Choices:
Innova Ultrasmooth Gloss
Innova Semi matte
Innova Warmtone Gloss
Epson Exhibition Fiber
Hahnemuhle Photo rag Baryta
Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta
Museo Silver Rag
That is everything that we carry at Shades Of Paper..

Innova Semi matte
Innova Warmtone Gloss
Epson Exhibition Fiber
Hahnemuhle Photo rag Baryta
Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta
Museo Silver Rag

Thanks Jim.
Innova USG (IFA49) = EEF, so thats 2 into 1, or actually none, as this paper's OBs deteriorate/yellow so quickly, I'd rarely use it. Big shame, lovely paper otherwise - great color and surface and depth, but... it has very poor longevity, so its out.
HM Fine Art Baryta, ditto, high OB's, problems with longevity
Innova warmtone better, but... warmtone. too warm for many people, including me.
Innova Semi Matte - I know little about, but see it has the very high OB's of IFA49, so... unlikely to be much different
Museo Silver Rag discontinued in 60" (shame- nice paper, though a little too textured surface imho)
so we're left with Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta.
OR...
Alpha Cellulose Photo Papers: Epson, Canon, Canson, etc. All much cheaper, many last a long while too.
once framed, you cares about the 'feel' - its all about the depth/gamut/surface and longevity, not what your fingers tell you.
-
I've done a lot of 60" wide (11880) prints on Epson Premium SemiGloss and Luster.
If you're going to frame behind glass, they are excellent choices.
Much more easy handling and scratch resistance, too. And a lot cheaper ;)

well thats good news, except for the price - $480/50ft roll!
(which is not so different to $400/40ft roll HN PR Baryta)

I just noticed that Harman by Hahnemuhle does many of their papers in 60" rolls, but NOT in the USA.
As this won the 2011 TIPA award, for best inkjet paper range, you would hope they'd change this in the world's biggest market. Or, can someone advise me where to privately import it from without too much hassle/ cost?
(ps: sadly they don't have the 60" Gloss Baryta ('FBAL') even in Europe. Their best paper... so... ?)

+1.
They really should release Baryta Gloss in 60" - its one of the very best photo papers out there, great gamut, great surface, great weight. Moderate OBA's to give it a good white point, but still a very long life on Aardenberg testing - the holy grail.

Hi,
I'm curious how you are going to finish the prints for the exhibition.
60x80 seems really large (and fragile) for such expensive paper.
I could see using it for smaller prints that are going to be matted and framed.

SC

just framed.
I ship them to my frame shop, they mount and frame them.
usually that's then end of story.
matt prints are very fragile I would agree. standard photo prints not so bad.
-
Will they laminate the prints?
-
what kind of mounts and glass are being used
as most glass standard size is 6ft*4ft, i assume its one of the laminated glass products
and same for mountboards, jumbo boards are 6*4
-
this is getting O.T.
The thread is about what 60" paper there is out there, not about how one would mount/frame a large print.
different issue.
