JR's TED Prize wish: Use art to turn the world inside out
http://blog.briancareyphotography.com/2011/03/power-of-art-photography.html
Personally I don't care if you call it art.
-
Brian, I suspect everybody is happy to know that.

Yep, the Sun is shining more brightly than it was this morning; I went to the airport with sweatshirt and multi-pocketed waiscoat (I usually wear it to pretend I'm a PJ or perhaps just because it saves me worrying about putting a wallet in one hip pocket of my Levis and the car keys in the other, both of which render sitting less than comfortable; or even safe, for that matter), but returned home in brilliant sunshine with perspìration where it isn't particularly helpful.
Now I'm sure you're all delighted to learn that, are you not?
;-)

Right, Rob. I was almost as eager to know that as I was to know whether or not Brian cares about calling photography art.
-
Sorry guys if I struck a nerve. I was trying to embed the JR video but I don't think you can at least I couldn't figure it out. I noticed that even Chase Jarvis thinks this is a great video!

I enjoyed the link - thanks for posting.
Why don't you care if they call it art? (Not that you should care, but you make the point that you don't...)
-
No, no struck nerves, Brian. It's just that LuLa offers a wonderful canvas on which to scribble one's own moments of frustration, boredom or even downright desperation.
In fact, that's one of the great things about this site: you can wake up as blue as a jay and yet, within minutes of getting the blasted computer to waken too, your mood can be lifted and the day turned sunny.
I love this place.

Brian,
I call Photography an art for sure. Even wikepedia says the same: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photography
