Title: Any one elses Panny G1 or G2 Series cameras have play in the lens mount?
Post by: One Frame at a Time on April 11, 2011, 11:55:07 am
Hi,

I just got bought a new Gh1 and 14 to 140 zoom lens.  The zoom ring is a little stiff.  When I turn the zoom either way the lens barrel rotates a tiny bit in the mount.
Its REALLY ANNOYING!  Anyone else notice this with their camera?  Other than this, I like this camera!  Hope some of the high end glass for MFT mount comes soon.

FWIMBW, I have a GH2 and a new 14-140mm plus 3 other Panasonic MFT lenses. The mounts are excellent and the fit-ups are equally excellent. Your problem suggests the need for a quick warranty fix and post fix quality check.

Good luck,
Tom

I just checked my G1 and my GF1. If I turn the lens with much more force than is reasonable, there is about 0.25mm of play. But I would never notice this in any sort of normal use -- just zooming or focusing shows no slop or looseness at all in the lens-to-body connection.

G2 and GH2 - no slop on either.
