Title: does the dtp94 work with Spectraview II software????
Post by: heinrichvoelkel on February 28, 2011, 03:08:42 pm
Simple questions, need a quick answer. Or is the I1 Photo the only way to go?

Thanks in advance

I believe the DTP94 is out of production, so make sure that the version of your OS supports this device.

I would add, depending on the gamut of the display you are profiling, it may be preferable to use the NEC customized version of i1 Dsiplay 2, as it is supposed to be adapted for wide gamut displays such as their PA series. The DTP94 (Optix XR) is a fine device, but it predates the wide gamut displays now available.

Do you alredy have DTP94/Spectraview II? What display are you going to calibrate?

In case you wouldn't have it yet, take a look at this new product - I didn't test it, but it looks promising:

I want to calibrate a P221 and upcoming screens. I will fly to NY next week, so buying some gear at B&H should work. But I rather buy a puck AND software, because I don't believe I will be "NEC only" the rest of my life.

The basiccolor thingy looks nice, but just one license is included. I'm looking for a multiple license solution.

you can purchase extra licenses for 50 Euro each (the first license was 100 Euro).  The SQUID kit is BasICColor Display 4 s/w and what appears to be a rebranded i1D2 puck.  I use the same s/w but w/ a ColorMunki.

I will say that I'm pretty impressed w/ the software but also the *free* Argyll CMS system (and dispcalgui) that can be used w/ most of the pucks we tend to use. Unfortunately, it (Argyll) doesn't write into the hw of the NEC's, only the video sw LUTs

All instruments supported by Argyll CMS. For display readings, these currently are:

X-Rite ColorMunki **
X-Rite DTP92
X-Rite DTP94
X-Rite/GretagMacbeth Huey
X-Rite/GretagMacbeth i1 Display 1
X-Rite/GretagMacbeth i1 Display 2/LT
X-Rite/GretagMacbeth i1 Monitor *
X-Rite/GretagMacbeth i1 Pro
X-Rite/GretagMacbeth Spectrolino
Datacolor/ColorVision Spyder 2
Datacolor/ColorVision Spyder 3 **
* Argyll CMS >= 1.0.3
** Argyll CMS >= 1.1.0

thank you all, what I'm interested in, is the hardware calibration Spectraview II and the P221 offers.
