Which one has shorter recycle time? The mecablitz 58 AF-2 or the Canon 580ex II?
I would like to use the flash for wedding photography.

Can't say about the Canon but I use the Metz for weddings and can testify it is very quick indeed.  Even when I ask for a big output, I never seem to need to wait for the next shot.  Even if the Canon was quicker, I can't see you'd notice the difference in that situation.

I can't give you an answer but the article below about the 580EX II might interest you:

another alternative is the 580 plus a high voltage supply like the Quantum Blade - 580 compatability with Canon cameras, long battery life, and fast recycle time
