I have just started using LR3 and I would like to create a catalogue of my previous hard drives I use for my archive.
Do you have some advice to follow in doing so? I have about 4 TB of data to put on a catalogue, then I would start importing new images made on 2011.
How much time do you think it will take to ingest all of these data?
Thanks for your help!

Depends on when you do it and how fast your equipment is. Do it at night. This is not something you have to watch so select the number of folders you want to import and let the program run over night. It will probably take a few nights to do this but it certainly beats watching your computer work.
I did this with an old system and about 35000 images so it is doable.

Thanks Johnatan, I will start with 2011 images and check how much time it will take, then I will go on backwards.
Kind regards

Also remember that with Lightroom multiple simultaneous imports use memory more efficiently - up to 1/computer core.
