Title: Kodak Discontinues the Pro Back 645 & Pro Back Plu
Post by: on February 14, 2004, 12:48:36 pm
22MP backs are going to remain picey for some time. The new all-in-one Phase One P25 will be $32,000.

But the 16MP Kodak backs are still in stock at some dealeras and offer tremendous value for the money at about $12K. Get 'em before they're gone.

Just got back from the PMA show in Las Vegas, and I was hoping to hear of a new announcement from Kodak regarding a replacement for the Pro Back Plus or Pro Back 645. Something like a 22 MP back with built-in battery that is completely portable, like the P25 from Phase One.

When I asked the Kodak rep about the Pro Back Plus, he told me that it was discontinued two weeks ago, and Kodak has exited the medium format business. Their only offering is the new Pro SLR/n and they are leaving the medium format backs to other companies that are using Kodak sensors.

Needless to say I am very disappointed as Kodak was the only company providing a back for my Hasselblad that was truly portable and under $30,000 (Kodak’s back was less than half the cost of everyone else).
