The Marshall V-LCD50 HDMI Monitor looks interesting but would really like to know more about the clamp it on as I haven't seen it before .....

Hi Michael.
Does that monitor allows different external source power or just the 4 batteries?
Thanks

Fred,
At the end of the article he mentions an included AC adaptor, therefore I would presume that it will run off AC also.

800x480 on an external screen?! Not enough pixels!
The LCD on the rear of current model DSLRs provides 640x480...
For $500, you get an extra 2 inches but only an extra 160 pixels wide?
In addition to the power switch issue, I think that it's worth waiting for them to deliver the next model with specs that make it actually worthwhile having externally.
At 5", the screen should be at least 1024x768.
Right idea, but not yet ready.

Sorry, but resolution on monitors is highly overrated as an issue. With peaking available for focus confirmation you have a very usable device for composition as well as focus.
Try one in actual use before rejecting it out of hand.

I agree with Michael here, I've used a few similar units over the last year or so. The resolution is fine (as long as it can handle downsampling of 1080i which is what a lot of the video DSLR's output in live mode). The focus and peaking makes this one a winner in the price range without a doubt.
