Title: How does ISO, exposure and the F stop value work?

These basic questions are best answered by one of the great many beginners books that are available at any library or bookstore.

They will provide much more digestable information than a brief response on a forum can.

I agree completely.. but I actually think I finally understood the basics... and the text I found that did this for me was the one provided in the link below... that finally put it in layman terms for me...

Btw.: I plan on saving up to buy myself a Canon EOS 20D... stupid investment if one didn't even understand the basics of photography...

For those of you who already read my post the other day, you will know that I'm a complete beginner in regards to photography.

Now, when I see alot of the various pictures, I often see a combination of the F Stop value and Exposure time.. now, I'm naturally aware of what Exposure is and how it works. ISO is as far as I know basically magnification of natural light so to speak, but the F stop value.. that is ... what? And how do these 3 values work together.

When shooting a photography, landscape or profile.. how do you know when you have to adjust the ISO value, the F value and the exposure time in corperation with eachother... I've tried to find articles describing these in a language that I understand.. and since english isn't my first language I have a bit of trouble understanding this in details..

I have also noticed how lenses often only can vary very little when it comes to the F value.. like.. from 4.6 to 5.6...

I know it takes years of experience to know precisely when to adjust each value and how they are tied together...

Is there anyone who can put down the basics in layman terms for a confused Dane so I might be able to get an understanding of this, then I'd be really happy.

And, I might add, without a doubt, this is the fundamental information that you absolutely MUST understand before you go any further. It is not complex. You must grasp the relationship of exposure before you do anything else.

Like Micheal said - get a basic beginner's book - read - try - comprehend. This should not take very long and it is within the grasp of anyone.
