Title: Video Journal schedule ... is there one?
Post by: Owin on October 01, 2010, 01:45:11 pm
Hi,

I've just started downloading and enjoying the LLVJs and was wondering is there a set schedule of releasing them (1 or 2 a year), or are they just put out as and when they're available?

Basically was wondering when is LLVJ20 going to be released  ;)

Cheers
Owin

Good question and one that has often been asked in the past 5 years as my 'schedule' of VJ publication has slowed from 4 a year to one a year.
Honestly there is no schedule and the VJs appearance is beholden to finding time beyond the editing of tutorials and other projects forthcoming. I expect the next VJ will be in time for Christmas - hopefully 2010  ;D

Thanks for the quick reply Chris.

I will look forward to Christmas then.

When I became aware of Luminous Landscape, I immediately bought all past issues of LLVJ (then DVD) and subscribed each year for the next issues.  When LLVJ changed to download, I had just resubscribed to the DVD but exchanged the subscription on a two for one basis yielding, as I recall, eight downloads.  I think I have four downloads remaining in that subscription.

As it appears that LLVJ has gone away, or is going away, can I use the remaining coupons to purchase anything else?

Anyone who has outstanding credits for a VJ subscription can use them toward the purchase of any other download - just contact Customer Service.

But the VJ has not gone away - just slowed to a crawl  :)

That's a shame. I have just discovered VJ and I have to say I find it absolutely inspirational - the combination of the discussions about photos, and the video of the places where the shots were taken are superb. It gives a fantastic insight into how a photographer works, and sees the world. I am already stressing about what to do when I have watched them all :-(

(p.s. the event that turned me on to the VJ was my iPad purchase - they are perfect for travelling, or watching in bed !!)

Ya know, there's other things you can do in bed (beside just sleep)...

Just sayin'

:~)

So Chris does that mean there is plenty of material waiting to be published, but it is simply a matter of not having the time to finalize it? If so (and not wanting to push as I am very new to this wonderful site, although I have now watched all the VJ's and would like lots more please) would it not be possible to put them out unedited? I am sure people would prefer to get the goods unvarnished as it were, rather than having to wait or not get them at all.

Can I also mention that your camera work is absolutely superb, your composition through the video is just as good as the stills - great work!

 :) :D ::) ;D

Photobloke - you are very generous in your praise.

Yes, I have a lot of travel material that is unedited. The release of unedited footage is not an option. First rule of editing is to excise the crap and boo-boos! Second rule is to juice it up with decent sound & music. All that takes quite a lot of time. That being said the VJ 20 is about 2/3rds complete and awaits a further new piece of material and final sound & music on the travel piece on China. Please do not ask when  ;) - all I do is make a liar out of myself!

Chris,

As you excise the crap, I do hope you are saving the best bits for the infamous LuLa Outtakes Video that some of us are eagerly awaiting!

The problem with a "Best Of Out Takes Video" is that the download would prolly be the majority of Chris' 10 years of hard drives...there are A LOT of out takes!!!

(only a select few are really funny...but I hope out hope that one day Chris may find himself with absolutely ZERO to do and get around to it–not likely though).

Another reason we've got to figure a way to clone Chris.
