About a year ago, I made some suggestions to Broncolor:
• bi-tube ringflash, extra power needed when using with their Para umbrellas
• compact Pulso lamphead, as their Pulso G and Pulso Twin lampheads are similar in size & weight to Profoto's D1 monoblocs
• simplify power pack offerings....replace the Nano, Topas and Verso power packs with a revised Mobil A2R and A4R (either with Lithium-ion battery
or AC/Mains adapter as with Hensel's Porty Lithium series)
Hoping they listened.

Hi Billy,
If you are curious take a look here:
http://www.broncolor.com/broncolor/news/products/#c35
At least there is a small head and a new pack, but I suppose it might not fit your needs. Answering the video needs there is an adaptor to use Kobold (HMI) lampbases with some of the bron modifiers. I´ll take a deeper look next week.
Cheers, Ulf

Thank you Ulf.
Now to see what Profoto announces.
-
Good move from Hensel to adapt Profotos Air system instead of trying to make their own as good or better.
I'm too interested in what Profoto will announce. Always hoped they would bring 2400 ws battery pack but doesn't seem likely after the release of B3air
-
Lower pricing on the flagship products would be nice, too.
Does a $10K power pack make sense when a Canon 5D2 costs $2500 ?
-
Excellent:

Interesting there's no Acute3 Air

What about a $740 flash tube!

Wish the Profoto reflectors were made with heavier gauge metal to withstand denting better.

Well, same old story, small series mean expensive prices.
Most of the technology used in the 5DII is very similar to that of the 550D that sells millions of copies a year.
Studio equipment will remain more expensive. In that context though, some brands are more expensive than others obviously.

Anyone know pricing on the Senso and Litos yet?

Hum... sorry for stating the obvious. Shouldn't your comment have been directed at the initial question?
By the way, out of curiosity I just checked your posting specs. You are at 1.385 post per day as opposed to 1.74 for me. Since I used to post a lot more than I have recently, my guess is that we are at about the same level these past 6 months. :)
At least the last one shows that yours aren't all goundbreaking either. ;D

Same thing here actually, well it was a mix of wine and Calvados in fact. ;)

the lamp looks nice, but it has only 3oo w modlight, only 4.5m cable, and according to bron,
"The Litos lamp or Litos flash tube can only be used with the Senso power packs".
in my opinion the bron pulso design is still great, and it seems to be a bad decission to introduce equipment pulso incompatible .

I agree the new head design only being able to work with the senso seems like a bad idea.
Curious to see what pricing will be on the senso.

Yep,
exactly what I thought, I don´t mind the size and weight of the pulso heads, they do a perfect job and with all that stuff we carry around, who cares? Looking at the specs of the senso pack (flash duration with pulso vs. litos lamp base) shows a significant difference, to obtain a shorter flash duration the litos suck a lot more power out of the pack, that is why they cannot be used with the other packs - hmmm, I´ll take a deeper look soon.
On the other side, look at the size of the lamp connectors, the senso pack seems to be really extremly small and I´m sure there will be a market for it. Profoto has the acutes and (for other reasons) they don´t fit in the professional Pro7 / Pro8 series, too.
I am wondering wether the the RFS II will work with the old RFS, could not find any information. One of brons strengths used to be their long time compatibility.
Cheers, Ulf

I would love if Elinchrom introduced lithium power for the Rangers to "lighten the load". The batteries for the Hensel Porty are less than 1/4 the weight of the elinchrom ranger batteries (2.5 lbs vs. 10.5 lbs)

^ Funny i just said the same thing on POTN.

I guess my wish came true ;)

Watch the video at about :22 zoomable tubes on Ranger A Head. Looks like they totally redesigned the head as well.

Anyone see if there's anything new from Briese?
-
Billy,
I have not been to Photokina yet, AFAIK Briese is not participating at Photokina, they decided to exhibit at cinec in munich. The continuous lighting business (HMI and tungsten) is is becoming more and more important for them. I think the movie guys spend their money easier ;-)
Briese launched some new focus reflectors half a year ago or so, they also have a new website with up to date information now. The focus115 is crisp.
Cheers, Ulf

Thanks again Ulf.
Briese was on display at Leica's booth according to http://dfarkas.blogspot.com/2010/09/photokina-2010-day-1-leica-s-system.html

Here is a quick look video of the new Senso in action. Gives a good view of the size of the Litos also.

Cool. Amber and Julian are good people!

Any news from BALCAR??????

Any pricing from Bron on the pricing for the senso/litos?

With Phase One incorporating Air triggering in their vertical grip
on top of Hensel adopting Air
I wonder if it's just a matter of time Sekonic meters will have Air Inside.
