One of my first shots from a new town, the currents made a whirlpool in the middle of the lake - Really neat. Not sure which photo I like better, probably the latter one.

I prefer the former one because the light is more concentrated in the centre of the frame. In the latter, the light coloured leaves in the lower left corner are distracting and keep my eye away from the centre 'whirlpool'.
I also think that there is just too much going on in this image. the dark tree works against viewing the natural phenomenon of the whirl. I think a stronger image would have been made without the tree, so that the quality of light, cloud, undulating hills and plains, and the water whirl could all work together more harmoniously.

Come on Michael! You can't just post images like this with names like Ogopogo and Kelowna without telling us what this is all about! :) Why the whirlpool - what's going on here? It looks fascinating.
As for the images, I'm inclined to agrre with Julie on all points, although the light you've captured here is very nice.

I have a few shots without the tree in them, but I found that the inclusion of the tree gave it more context to the environment. I also thought that it was reminiscent of some group of seven paintings that I really like.
An Ogopogo is essentially the loch ness of the okanagan valley.

I was out enjoying some rock climbing when the weather changed late in the day. we weren't sure but it was either lake currents mixing, or the pressure system that was blowing in that made for the whirlpool. When it was really going, the rest of the lake was calm and the centre of the whirlpool was alive with waves moving in all directions. It was certainly a sight to see!

Gees, Mike! I lived in Kelowna three years and never saw Ogopogo once... O'course we do have the Cadborosaurus roaming around the island here.
I even know exactly where that tree is.
Some great lighting, and I like the swirl on the lake.
