Title: photokit sharpener uprgrade
Post by: meierruedi@hotmail.com on August 03, 2010, 02:41:21 am
Is there already a release date for a photokit sharpener update fully compatible with PS CS5 (64 bit)?

I reallly like this plug-in and would love to use it without having to run PS in 32bit...

Thanks Jeff!

from the pixel genius site

A note about Adobe Photoshop CS4/CS5–Windows

The current Windows versions of our products are compatible when running under Photoshop CS4/CS5 and CS4/CS5 Extended when launched under Windows XP/SP3 and Windows Vista SP1 & SP2 and Windows 7. Pixel Genius products support both 32 bit and 64 bit versions when hosted by Photoshop CS4/CS5.

Not with Mac, though. I second the appeal for a 64-bit version of Photokit Sharpener for Mac with PS CS5.

We're working on it...when it's ready to announce, we'll announce it.

The development workflow prolly goes something like this: Work on it for an hour, then spend three hours cursing Apple for screwing up everything, then back to work trying to fix their mess.

Why would the developer curse apple in this situation? 64bit apps have been out for a very long time on the apple end. And what exactly did Apple screw up?

Adobe is the one that waited until cs5 to port to 64bit

From all reports I hear on LuLa, Apple has screwed up royally on color management recently. If I were a developer I might want to wait to see if Apple is going to change the rules for something else essential before committing much time to a project.

I am speculating wildly, of course. I have no information beyond what I read here. But it seems odd that between Microsoft and Apple, it is now Microsoft that is trying to look like the more reliable.

Because Apple decided to kill 64-bit Carbon (like the promised to do) and forced Adobe to rewrite Photoshop using Cocoa API's (which was a painful amount of work–which we've also had to deal with).
