I posted something on this awhile back. Since that time I've printed a half dozen or so photos. The LCD readout still says "Clogged nozzles detected, cleaning recommended." Should I call Epson and demand a new print head???

I turned off the auto head clog checker as was recommended on this forum. I do a nozzle check daily, whether or not I am printing, just to flow a little ink. I rarely have clogs any more, fewer than one a month. The experience of others may vary! The printer does seem to thrive on use, although some have had their sit unused for quite a while. Humidity where you are may also be a factor, humid climates may clog the heads slower than dry climates. I do live by the beach...

So you have cleaned the head and the message remains? You have power the printer off and on and still get the message? To verify it's the head would require manual printed nozzle test pages, where the same nozzles are always missing no matter what cleaning efforts have been done. This would be a recommended step before calling Epson.
However, based on the history of the 79/9900 series, it is more likely to be a fault in AID/ANC system, erroneously thinking there are clogged nozzles when there are not.
Most of us have disabled auto nozzle checking in the menu, and thus will never see this message (except if we do a black in swap where for some reason the printer still does an auto nozzle check). Unless you run the machine unattended with large runs, manually checking and cleaning nozzles is easy and more reliable.

Jan,
What does your nozzle test pattern look like? Did it look different after the clean? I like Wayne and most others have disabled auto nozzle checking and that works great on both my machines.
From your previous post you mentioned you still had 1 clogged nozzle after your clean. How did you determine it is one nozzle, just curious.

Doing a test pattern gave me a clean print. It's just the LCD telling me that the nozzle is clogged. WHY doesn't Epson correct this erroneous error on the unit that they are currently shipping? Obviously this is an on-going thing.
My guess is that they are working on their next newest, greatest printer .... that will replace the 7900.

Oh yes, very, very ongoing...
