Title: Booksmart fine art metal and HP
Post by: trentf on July 12, 2010, 08:20:57 pm
I think I know the answer to this,  but does the Z3200 have a straight enough paper path to print on this stuff.  I emailed Booksmart Studio and have not heard back...  thought some here might be able to answer it.  thanks

There has been a thread here before on that subject. I thought it would be dangerous but there was a positive answer.

Yea I think it is asking for trouble. I talked to them on the phone once and they said no, don't try it.

I even had bad issues with this stuff in a 9600 on all the platen gap settings. The edges of the sheets would curl up on most of the sheets I went through. This produced horrible head strikes on the Epson that can easily bend the nozzles of the head. I'm really lucky I got out of that with only minor damage to the print head.

Of course with the Z you can  easily replace the heads. What I would worry about is damaging and bending the star wheel feeding assembly, and knocking the heads out of alignment.

I would also expect a lot of scratching on the expensive sheets.
