Has anyone come up with a good (ie: easy, smart) way to store rolls of paper after they are removed from a printer? They seem a bit unruly. No use trying to reinvent the wheel here, if some of you have a method that works well for you.

Wearing cotton gloves, I use a strip of paper as a band around the roll and taped to itself, then put the roll back into the plastic sleeve and end caps that came with it. The end caps allow you to store the rolls horizontally or vertically.

I do the same thing as Ken

Same same. Back in the original box the paper came in. There are roll storage solutions like this (http://www.shadesofpaper.com/product_info.php?cPath=72&products_id=529) and this (http://www.theglobalphotographer.com/the-global-photographer/2010/6/9/one-on-one-print-mentoring-page-updated.html), but I have enough dog hair in the house that I don't like leaving them exposed

Same as Ken (ha ha) except for fragile media I use wax paper to wrap around the roll and tape it shut, then back in plastic, holders, box.

I use PVC pipes on a wooden rack to store my paper:

It cost me around $25 in materials, and just got out the saw to make each piece.

I was just about to say that I currently do the same thing as Ken - but had seen your set-up Andy on your blog I think and thought it was very clever and much better if you are using multiple rolls.
Where did you get the wooden rack?
-
Josh, I made the wooden rack myself.

Thanks for sharing Andy. I like your solution a lot ..... it allows for very easy to access to the paper, and makes storage a snap. I'm handy with tools, so making one will be easy.
-
Yeah, Andy nice job. Usually I store paper back in the box it came in, but always looking for easier ways to access it.

Keep in mind that my solution won't work for long term storage of a roll, as a core can get lopsided and oblong. If you anticipate needing to store a roll for a long time, a vertical storage method should be preferred.

very nice ... I've been struggling with the same problem and like this solution the best.

I made a rack out of a Sam's Club stainless steel rolling cart, plywood and PVC. I don't use too many rolls at a time and I like having them covered.
Works pretty well but took some time to make-
