Title: PA271W Available?
Post by: RobWalstrom on June 15, 2010, 05:02:36 pm
Does anybody have this monitor yet? I called NEC in early May when it was announced to be shipping and they said stores should have them at the end of May. I've been checking inventory online and it seems like the stores are still on back order. Just curious if any folks (particulary US folks) have this monitor yet.

Rob:

We have seen the PA271W arrive as well. Its not up to speed in volume yet, but glad to see its arrival and availability.

Excellent news, thanks to you both! Now I'm just waiting for the SpectraView II bundled version. Are you shipping that too, Rick?

The SV versions are also shipping although in lower quantity than the non-SV versions. Many vendors supply these, including CHROMiX: <http://tinyurl.com/NEC-PA-Series>

With the 26" now available for $900 new, why would anyone spend the additional $450?

Maybe the 14bit 3D LUT and better sRGB sim mode (i've heard the factory sRGB on the 90 series was not nearly as good and something about how you can't adjust it either, not sure if that is true or not; if you ONLY do photos then that doesn't matter much though in any case).

EDIT: apparently you can adjust the sRGB mode, the white balance at the least, on the ^2 versions of the 90 series, it was only the original versions that you could not do so on.

PA 271W both versions seem to be available now.  I saw them on Amazon and bought a BK-SV version from BH today.  I'm sure they are available elsewhere also.
