Title: HP Status Monitor
Post by: thomasmoran on June 04, 2010, 03:32:40 pm
Hi, I'm having a problem with were the "hpstatusmonitor" is always running and taking up a large amount of system resources even when my computer is freshly restarted and everything should be idle. I've tried to force quit the process in activity monitor and it pops right back up and is constantly showing about a 118% CPU usage (quad core 27inch imac). I even have the printer (z3100 44 inch) unplugged but to no effect.

A few searches for this seems to turn up very little as to what it actually is and how to kill it. Anyone with any knowledge about this would be hugely appreciated.

Thomas

Try creating a new user and launch the hp status monitor. If it runs OK then it has something to do with the specific user configuration. Tossing the preferences might help. I think it probably is located in your users->library->preferences folder. Should be HP something or com.hp. something.
