Hi there!
I couldn´t find any answer to this using the search button, but remember having read something about it before:
When LR3 is released, how long will the beta continue to work?
I´ll be gone on a month long trip soon and am a little afraid that in the middle of my journey one morning LR3 beta stops working and I have no chance of purchasing the official release...I am thinking of bringing LR2 as a backup solution on my laptop, but since I want to work with LR3 switching back to LR2 will be a major hassle while on the road...and probably could mean lost work.
Regards,
René

June 30, 2010 is the expiration date.

June 30, 2010 is the expiration date.
That I knew, but I thought there was a kind of "after the final release is available, we give you 30 days until the beta stops working"- kind of thing...not linked to the beta expiration date. Since the expiration date of beta 1 was moved backwards, if I remember correctly, that could be possible for the beta 2 as well.
But I think I will just have to give up LR beta 2 for my trip. I really do not want to be messing around with stuff like that during my trip...LR2 will have to suffice for now.
Thanks anyway!

Remember that Adobe releases all products with a 30 day free trial - so, if LR3 Beta does expire while you are on vacation, you don't have to deal with buying an upgrade on the road - just download the LR3 retail, install as a trial, and when you get home, buy it and register it.
Yes, you can have your cake and eat it to!

Well, sometimes you do not see the forest because there are so many trees in your way...(that´s translated letter by letter from German...don´t know if that does make sense to you ;->).
I didn´t think of the trial period at all...thanks for the hint. That indeed solves my problem!
Kind regards,
René

I know that the beta expires on 30 June, but has Adobe actually set a release date for LR3?

No.

I hope they release the final version or a beta 3 before June 30.
I'm already addicted to the 2010 process and noise reduction, and I wouldn't like to be cut off from using that.

Of course, the other possibility is that Adobe might release another beta. Or a Release Candidate.

In other words, no-one who knows can say, and the rest is speculation. Just carry on using the beta or LR2 - Adobe won't leave you high and dry.

And... keep an ear to the ground...
As 30th June approaches there are bound to be those under NDA who cant hold their water any longer (there always are) and leak the news of the release.
We know its coming.. we know its coming soon...
The rest is just a short wait
