Title: Quality cut sheet mat board??
Post by: eleanorbrown on May 11, 2010, 01:12:59 pm
I have bought high quality cut mat board ( 16X20 up to 22X28) from Light Impressions for years and years.  The company is in bad shape and no longer has any supply of 4 ply board.  Does anyone know where I can purchase packs (25 sheet) of cut 4 ply archival board equal to the Light Impressions quality?  I noticed that B&H carries packs of "pearl white" mat board but know nothing about it.

Any ideas anyone?  Many many thanks! Eleanor

I like Frame Destination. Reasonable prices, and they do a truly excellent job of packaging orders so that they're safe from even the most beligerant of delivery truck drivers.

They have Bainbridge Artcare 4Ply Alphamat in a variety of colors including several whites. The also carry the 8ply Alpharag in a more limited selection. They sell uncut, as well as cut sheets in a variety of standard sizes or you can specify custom sizing. I don't know how the price compares to what you used to pay, but they do offer quantity discounts if you're buying in bulk.

In prior threads about ordering framing supplies online, Frame Destination was by far the most popular choice. I haven't ordered from them as I have a local wholesale supply place, but reviews certainly sound good.

Thanks everyone... I have ordered some mat board samples to start with and I will order after I get those samples to go by.  Only wish they carried Neilsen metal profile 50 in matte black as that
is my standard frame ... eleanor

Hi Eleanor,

I will send you a sample of our Nielsen Profile 117 for your consideration.
When looking straight at the frame (with no angle) it looks just like profile 50.
I realize that it is not the same so if it does not work for you I will understand.

Cheers,
Mark
