Had a pleasant late afternoon stroll in the Albuquerque foothills after a day that included a touch of early May snow.
About 3 or 4 verticals with a 5D2 and my ancient Nikkor 50mm f1.8 AI, second sharpest lens on Earth. Stitched with PTGui, still the King of Stitchers.
Wow, the sRGB reduction did a number on that wet dirt.

Good stuff as always.

Even the thumbnail looks sharp and full of detail!

Excellent work. Love the light and the medium soft shadows. The subtler colour gradations really come through. I take it you stitch because you want larger files to print larger.
You make me want to give up my Pentax and try a Digital legacy Nikon, like the 700. I have a few really good lenses from my manual camera. I really miss the little latch at the back that covered the viewfinder so I didn't have to worry about extraneous light entering the camera and I could shoot with a cable.

Wonderful and inspiring work Bill. Thanks for letting us watch.
Is this one also using focus stacking? (It looks pretty sharp throughout.)
Its not fair that you own the two sharpest lens on earth, so all the rest of us have to settle for third place at best!
I'm struck by the irony of the situation. You got your Oscar for work on complex automated motion control systems for movie cameras didn't you? Here you are, alone in the desert, with a tripod and a still camera, and painstakingly going thru a complex series of motions that must carefully coordinated, and all by hand!

Another spectacular pano - the nuance in shading and detail on the clouds is amazing!
