Am new to this forum and to photography as well for that matter.
A handful of seeds lured this little beauty out of the bushes.
Taken on a D40 with a 80-200mm lens.

Nice shot, Henrik. And welcome to the forum.

Hi Henrik, and welcome to the list. When I saw your title of 'Chaffinch Posing' I could imaging you there going, 'Work it, work it... Okay, that's good. Now show me some wing...'
Too much coffee this morning, methinks...
Mike.

Great shot, Henrik. Like Wolfnowl, I imagined the little birdy in question with wings on hips peering over dark glasses and teetering on platforms ...

Thanks guys. All of the above happened, but I thought this is a family forum so I best just post the picture that is not too suggestive. So just a bit of leg showing.
On a serious note though I find the branch distracts a little from the bird and I'm not sure if it is the size of it or the fact that the right hand side is slightly out of focus. Any ideas on what I could have done differently?

I actually like the line of the branch, Henrik, it's not always a bad thing to have something out of focus. I'm not a wildlife photographer by any means, but I would imagine just capturing the moment is the thing, as I found recently on encountering a rather shy peacock...

I don't think the distraction is the OoF-ness, it's the lightness and the placement of the lightness on the edge of the frame. I'd try lowering the brightness of the moss which crosses the right edge of the picture. And perhaps cropping a little bit from both sides.
The color/atmosphere/light balance is beautifully realized.
