This article talks about care and maintenance of wide-format printers with an emphasis on Epson. Some useful info, I think.

Looks like propaganda to sell third party ink.

After reading all eight pages, these are the salient points that I got from it. [My comments in brackets, and you could very well get more from it than I.]

[blockquote]Print head strikes against your paper can damage the head or reduce print head life. [Really? Ya think?] Non-Epson papers [supposedly] are not packaged as well, allowing sheet corners to curl. Gently uncurl them with palms of your hands to avoid dog-ears.

If you don't use your printer at least once a week, shake your ink tanks every three weeks... and rock your printer [That I'd like to see with a 9900 or 7900!]

You can save about half the cost of an on-site visit for repairs if you do your own maintenance. [Just download one of their manuals... for a fee.][/blockquote]
