Title: ND filter
Post by: stamper on February 08, 2010, 04:39:20 am
I recently bought a four stop ND filter. When it is placed in front of the lens everything appears darker as I expected. My question is would it be better to use manual focus or would autofocus be adequate? TIA

I would approach it by focusing first either manual or auto and then put on the filter.  Experiment!

If you have live view, you can focus that way without a dark image.

Thanks for that idea. I hadn't considered that because on the d300 you can't use live view and the timer. I will try it without the timer because now I have a remote release.
