Michael, are you going to the Olympics?
Anyone else plan to go?
-
I live in Vancouver. I can't wait until the Olympics are in my past.
For a number of WEEKS you will not be allowed to drive the Squamish highway unless you have a permit.
Flying schools have had to close, since student pilots are not allowed to fly in in the area.
If you want to fly a private airplane you will have to go through extreme security procedures that makes it not worth it.
BC Hydro is spending 7 million dollars for security to protect and prevent terrorists from blowing up their transmission lines and dams.
Many roads downtown will be closed except for Olympic traffic.
It is so wonderful for all of the worlds AMATEUR athletes to come together for a nice friendly get together to celebrate the freedom of sport. (My tongue is in my cheek). The Olympics have become a target that totally destroys their original purpose.
The terrorists have won. We no longer enjoy freedom of movement in our own country.

This is the white guy games, right? The real Olympics are a couple of years out...
-
Ray,
I agree, the terrorists have won.
Pity. I think I'll stay home.
-
What Ray said.
Besides, the only month worse than February in Vancouver is November.
If you want to see Vancouver, go in May or September.

G'day all,
Love this site and all the good advice you've freely offered.
This is how Whistler, well the better half thereof, looked today....spectacular !!

(unfortunately leaving next week so I can't report on the Olympics - I reckon it will be a hoot).
Cheers,

I'll definitely be going out. We just published a new book called, Whistler: An Outdoor Paradise (http://www.carisbrookpress.com/media.html), so we are having lots of fun getting it into all the stores.

I'll be there, but mostly as a spectator. Had the option of working a support booth for pro photographers, but that would have interfered with actually seeing sporting events

One thing about the winter Olympics in vancouver, unlike most other winter cities, you can take in an event and then go golfing or mountainbiking or, perish the thought flower photography........... Spring is coming to the west coast.
