How can I arrange to have my user name changed? I PM'ed Michael twice with a request but never got a response.
If one of the moderators reading this can make the change, please change my user name to Graham Mitchell
Thanks.
-
Done!
Incidentally, we now ask new registrants to use real names - I would encourage others already registered to do the same as Graham.

I'd like to change mine to Shirley Bracken. I couldn't see where to do it myself. Can you do mine too? Thanks.

Always happy to oblige, but like the two posters above, I couldn't find a way to do this myself; is there a way?
If not, then please change ThomasM to Tom Montgomery. Thanks!
T.

How about changing ChrisSand to Chris Sanderson and Michael to Michael Reichman?
Then, if you really don't have enough work getting LLVJ 20 out (plus a few more tutorials), feel free to change EricM to Eric Myrvaagnes (but who wants to have to type all that).
Eric

I could not add that avatar either. Will you see if you can do it please... thanks! I'm so glad to be rid of Bumperjack!
-
Ed Blagden please.
-
Dave Carter please.
Thanks,
Dave
-
Griffin Friedman while you're at it. Thanks!
-
I seem to be ahead of the trend...
-
I'd say 5,508 ahead! But I do like to talk so watch out!

I was actually referring to the fact that I registered under my real name back in 2003, no user name change required...
-
So relieving to "come into the light" (i.e., out of the shadows of semi-anonimity). I will appreciate if you change mine to: Slobodan Blagojevic (no, not related, if you have to ask )
-
According to the front page, there are currently 34,200 members. If everyone* piles on here this is going to be one very long thread!
(* Minus, of course, the number of forward-thinking users who are already using their real names, like Jonathan...)
-
Handles used to be the norm when CBs were "in". I had one back in the 70's. So it was kind of fun to carry it over. Now that era is over and we need to know who we are talking to.
Seems like we should be able to change our names by ourselves. Is that possible? I prefer to do my own work!
Jonathan, you're a special boy!
-
This sucks. I'm going to lose track of who is who.
-
I'm Shirley, formerly called Bumperjack. Maybe we should ID ourselves that way for a while. I was just getting to know some of you but I'm sure your personalities will shine through.
-
This sucks. I'm going to lose track of who is who.
I had just been thinking that some of the 'handles' have a great deal of charm and/or mystery to them, and I will sorely miss them. Some of my favorites that come to mind immediately include Dark Penguin, MadManChan (who is anything but mad IMHO), Wolfnowl, Nniko, and Kikashi. On the other hand, "EricM" was pretty boring, so I'm happy to have 'come out.'
Now maybe Jonathan will change his to "JonW357." just to spite us.
Eric Myrvaagnes (formerly EricM)

No worries... under member's profile/options, there is an option "Member's Display Name History"

...or folks can put their old handle in the signature...
-
Please change mine to Jack Varney.
Thank you.
-
Change mine to Etienne Cassar please.
Merry Christmas to all!!!
-
But I like being King!
Oh well, had to end some day... Roger Calixto please.
And a Merry Christmas to y'all!

I'm planning to remain kikashi for as long as I'm allowed: it's a name I use elsewhere and it has a slightly abstruse meaning which I rather like. In the rather unlikely event of anyone wanting to know who I am, Google is a wonderful tool or I'll happily respond to a request.

I want to change to Ronny Nilsen then.
Thanks,
Ronny

For five bucks (in small, unmarked bills, in a plain brown paper bag) I'll tell anyone what Jeremy's real name is. Unless, of course, Jeremy pays me ten bucks (in s, u b, in a p b p bag) to keep his deep, dark secret.

I would have been happy to take myself the Hassle out of my name, but did you notice that none of the moderators answered the burning question: HOW to change your log-in name? Chris, feel free to use my very pronounceable name (for Dutchmen, that is...) Bas Stekelenburg.
Not longer HasselBas.
-
Please change mine to Les Sparks
Thanks
-
Gosh, I'm kinda with Dark Penguin on this one - with weird names, it's easier to remember who's who and what they're like than when you're trying to keep "John Smith" and "Dave Smith" straight...
But if we're going to change, then I second the motion for people to put their old names in their signature line.
If you really, really, want to change mine, then I'll become Lisa Nikodym. (nniko wasn't very interesting anyway)
Lisa

but did you notice that none of the moderators answered the burning question: HOW to change your log-in name?
I'm guessing it can't be done by us.
Mine to "Bradley Proctor". Thanks!
-
Please change mine to Mike Boden
-
Please change my name to Brad Pitt.
Might help ...
-
I strongly support using real names on online forums. It helps create a community where you are accountable for what you say and how you say. Great idea!!!
An alternate way to handle this without changing everyone's user names (for those of us who use handles, pseudonyms, or nicknames) would be to put your real full name in your signature. I have done this on mine.

How does it make you accountable?
-
How does it make you accountable?
It makes people more accountable because their personal, real-life reputation can be affected. For example, if I go around speaking belligerently with an offensive tone or even obscenity, then later I am looking for a job, my prospective employer could see these comments and choose to not hire me.
Furthermore, some people (me included) market their name through google. If you google my name, you get my website and things that I have published at various places on the web (in addition to information about a director with exactly the same name as me). If a search turns-up my offensive or inappropriate writings on a forum, my prospective customers would be likely to choose not to hire me.

"Hening" unfolds to "Hening Bettermann".

I could have sworn I made you sign an NDA...

Mine's already my real name, only not capitalized (i.e.: should be Mike Louw).
I think the mods are going to regret this unless there's a way for us to change our own names...
-
I think they already do regret it =)
-
Hey, is that a band wagon rolling by...
I guess I'd better change to Andrew Teakle. Goodbye tesseraphoto
-
Please change me to Seth Honeyman
Thanks - Seth
-
And please change mine to Paul Sumi

Please change mine to Jay Kaplan
Thanks,

Aw, shucks! You beat me to it. I was gonna change my name to Schewe, just so I could ride that neat motorcycle and wear them awesome shirts.

Please I would like to be Guillermo Luijk
(tired of forum member calling me GLuijk )
Thanks
-
Ben Rubinstein please

Replace the s with a space, capitalize the g and the b; hmmm, perhaps easier just to ask for "Gordon Buck".
-
Mike Normandeau please
Thanks
-
I just saw this.
Luis Argerich

Please change geoffsamuels to Geoff Samuels - Thanks!

Chris, did you receive my message asking to change mine from MarkDS to Mark D Segal? Can "formerly MarkDS" be incluced automatically somewhere for a while?
Cheers, and Happy Holidays!
Mark

Put it in your signature.
Merry Merrie to all! This name changing thing is now in hiatus for a while. Requests will be ignored.

Thanks Chris, have a well-deserved vacation.
I'm just watching this crazy weather we're having - don't you love it - doesn't know whether it wants to rain, snow, pellet, freeze, etc., etc. and we have places to drive - or maybe not. I keep marveling at the bravery and persistence of our ancestors who paved the way for us in this slice of the world's georgaphy.
Cheers,
Mark
