Title: Keywording question
Post by: jljonathan on December 09, 2009, 12:53:39 pm
Since people and event entries in the ITPC fields (Expression Media 2)  don't appear in LR, I have added these two keywords preceded by a * to my keyword list and added all the sub-entries (set to export) to these two main headings (set to not export). I have also added one other main heading *location, which contains sub-entries of all my metadata locations (all set to not export-since this info is already in a field). This I've done just for expediency, since these three would be up top, in finding images belonging to a location without having to open the filter panel. All other keywords are flat listed. Do you think this arragement is safe and does it sound reasonable, or do you think it could lead to problems. Or, would you suggest populating the keyword list with all of these entries as flat (this seems that it would certainly increase the list and make it very hard to use). Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds reasonable to me.

There are lots of examples of ways people have used special characters and heirarchies for specific purposes. One other example is Eric Scouten's method for "worklist keywords".
