Some excellent critiques there, stylistically similar to what we have been seeing around here.  Yeah Cartier-Bresson couldn't crop for s**t!

That kid gives me the creeps every time.

OK - This has been going on long enough! Some time ago I posted that I was unable to get TOP to load in my browser (Firefox). I still can't. All I get is this message on screen :

Error 405 bye

bye
Odnamrod Meditation:

XID: 2662336243

I can't believe the problem is at my end since this is the only site I've ever had a problem loading. Can someone knowledgable help? Because I really miss the site. Hmff!

Sorry Mr Penguin - I didn't mean to hijack your topic.
Cheers, Bob.

505 is a method not allowed or an immediate close on connect.  I doubt it is a TOP issue.  I'd guess a DNS issue, ISP issue or malware on your machine.

Try the trendmicro free scan to see if you've anything running on your machine.

Loads fine for me in Firefox 3.5.5

Not as funny but just as appropriate as the original. Most online critics judge photos based on photography 101 and/or postcard esthetics.

I've found sites like PhotoSIG are only good for drawing attention to basic technical mistakes any intermediate photographer knows and can eliminate if she so chooses. 90+% of the critiques concentrate on the beginner metrics TOP lampoons: horizon tilted or in the middle of the frame, rule of thirds broken, "wrong" white balance, etc. Oh the humanity  There are only very few good critics, even on LL.

Bob: I've never had problems with TOP loading in FF, been reading it for years - so the problem is definitely at your end. My vote is on malware as well; try Spybot S&D and a virus checker.

Spybot did it in the end - thanks for pointing me in the right direction - and for the loan of your topic!

Oh cripes, I think I am going to have to stop posting comments on User Critiques... this is too close to the bone.

The "Nice capture!" is my favorite.  It is my polite generic comment.

My favourite is the one where he disses the HCB image of the boys playing in front to the windows with the man looking on, and then presents a cropped version.  I thought of Russ...
