I am considering upgrading my flatbed scanner, currently an HP ScanJet 5590, to an Epson V700 or V750M. Just recently Epson announced a significant discount in both of these models. Does that mean the an new model around the corner?
I was curious if anyone has heard any news about new scanners from Epson.
Cheers.

Both have been out for a while, so it wouldn't surprise me. They just intro'd a new mid-level model, the V600, that has almost the same specs. That said, it could also be a way to spur sales, since the economy has effected all, large and small. If the specs of the V700 or V750 still meet your requirements, go for the price and save big time, rather than going for the latest and greatest, which will most likely be incremental improvements.

P.S. - I'm considering one the three aforementioned models as well to replace my older Microtek flatbed and 120TF scanners.

They have been holding back the LED upgrade for quite a while but I am sure they will put that card into play eventually. LED is nice to have in terms of speed but I don't think it produces noticably better scans than the current units. What we really need is an optical upgrade and I just don't see the real-world optics getting upgraded in this price class.

Doug:
Any educated guess for the possible release of the Perfection saga?
TIA
