Title: One from Southern Utah
Post by: Paul Sumi on November 05, 2009, 06:04:56 pm
Just returned from a trip to the Moab area, Canyonlands, Arches, etc.  One of the highlights was arriving as the first big snow storm of the season came through the region.

I was trying to capture the contrast between the fresh snow on the mountains and the redrock below.  Any comments on how I did greatly appreciated.

There are some great textures there, although I might brighten it a bit.  For me, the selective colour doesn't work in this image, though.

Mike.

Mike, thanks for your comments. I'll try lightening the image a touch.

I know it may look like I selectively turned off the color in the snowy areas, but this is a straight image.  The foreground was in shadow, which makes it appear nearly monochromatic.

I rather like the color in the sunlit part, but I agree with Mike that a lighter version might be more effective.
